Xander Ferreira is KISUA’s man in NYC. The South African musician, artist, photographer and DJ is infamous as the frontman of high concept Afro-electro outfit Gazelle. He also fronts The Happy Show alongside Findlay Brown, a regular hoedown at China Town’s Le Baron where the duo spin African funk, soul, disco and jazz gems to in-the-know downtowners.
Gearing up for summer, The Happy Show has just unleashed a new mixtape, The African Beachtime Playlist. “We took a journey into the world of African Psychedelia and discovered a prominent surf rock sound that was prevalent throughout the 1960s, especially in South Africa and Nigeria,” explains Ferreira of the mix. “We have put together a rare selection of special songs to celebrate these wonderful artists that history seems to have forgotten. Please support them by buying their music online!”
