Cape Town-based Nico Krijno is a filmmaker, photographer and artist. A humorous, off-kilter take on mundane objects defines his photography, which has caught the eye of the world's leading independent fashion and design titles and prompted profiles in Dazed & Confused, Apartamento, Neon and Vice Magazine. Commercial clients include Levi's, Nike and Adidas, and Krijno is currently taking part in the group show BLOG RE-BLOG at the Signal Gallery in New York.
For KISUA Krijno curates a visual juxtaposition between his photographs and the saturated camouflage prints in the KISUA by Beatrice Black Atari collection. The optical illusion on these Ghanaian fabrics is achieved through a unique batik dying technique. Visual parallels with Krijno's striking imagery leave the feeling that everything might not be quite as it seems at first glance.
